WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) continue to experience significant barriers with accessing dependable and accessible transportation services in their communities.  While transportation providers have been working on accessibility for many years, more needs to be done and people with disabilities need to be sharing their experiences about how well their local transportation providers are doing.

HOW WILL THIS PROJECT HELP?
To address transportation barriers for people with disabilities, this grant will create the Transit Research and Accessibility Center (TRAC). TRAC will develop and pilot a transportation accessibility evaluation program.  People with ID/DD, and others, will assist with creating, populating, and maintaining an online regional transit rating database, and inform transit agencies of steps to improve accessibility.
