WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
Individuals with IDD face many barriers to obtaining competitive employment. According to U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics from 2019, only 19.3 percent of people with disabilities were employed. Apprenticeship programs can provide a wide variety of benefits to all stakeholders including employers, employees, and the community overall.
HOW WILL THIS PROJECT HELP?
This project will allow individuals with IDD to participate in apprenticeship programs to gain the necessary skills and experience to be employed in manufacturing and other industries by providing additional disability-related supports and services.
