Alternative Dispute Resolution
Project Status: Active
Grantee: NYS Unified Court System
Funding Amount: $150,000 per year
Grant period: 01/2020 - 12/2022
WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
Community Dispute Resolution Centers (CDRCs) are free or low-cost community resources throughout the state that individuals with IDD and their families can access to resolve conflicts they may be facing.
HOW WILL THIS PROJECT HELP?
This project will facilitate the utilization of CDRCs as a community resource for individuals with IDD and their family members, in order that individuals can learn new ways to advocate for themselves and their wants. Individuals will learn to express their opinions and desires in a neutral setting and learn additional conflict resolution skills with the support of mediation center staff.
